Robert has served as a global leader in sustainable investing for almost 30 years and is responsible for many 'firsts' in the field.
Prior to joining Millani as an independent consultant, Robert spent nearly 20 years at NEI Investments where he built Canada's first comprehensive sustainable investing program including ESG evaluations, corporate engagement, proxy voting, public policy initiatives and white paper publications.

Throughout his career he has helped blaze the trail for consensus-oriented initiatives working with company leaders, institutional investors, communities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to define risks, drive to agreement and implement solutions to material ESG challenges.
Robert was a Steering Committee member for the Goldcorp Human Rights Impact assessment of the Marlin Mine in Guatemala, working with general counsel of Goldcorp and head of Transparency International Guatemala to oversee the production of a human rights impact assessment. He was also the the Chair of the Boreal Leadership Council, leading a coalition of First Nations, environmental organizations, oil and gas, mining and forest products companies to consensus on publication of high-profile position papers supporting First Nations free, prior and informed consent.
Robert currently chairs the board of governors of the International Corporate Governance Network and the Nominating and Governance Committee of the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Summa cum laude) in Political Science from McMaster University, and Masters degrees from Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. He recently achieved the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Directors Education Program.
