Milla Craig moderated the panel "Regulatory Roundtable – Critical Developments and What to Anticipate" at the Responsible Investment Association conference in Vancouver
May 30th, 2024

Earlier this week, Milla Craig moderated the panel "Regulatory Roundtable – Critical Developments and What to Anticipate".  It featured distinguished experts from various regulatory bodies and investment organizations. The discussion provided valuable insights into the latest regulatory trends and their implications for responsible investment.

Key takeaways from the session include:

1. Encouraging Public Participation: It’s crucial for investors to provide comments on Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) standards and upcoming Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) - Autorités canadiennes en valeurs mobilières (ACVM) rules. Without active investor input, there is a significant risk of regulatory fragmentation.

2. Impact of Regulatory Carve-Outs: Carve-outs in regulations could hinder the competitiveness of Canadian companies in attracting capital, which is essential for a successful transition.

3. Opportunity for Canadian Leadership: This moment offers Canada a unique opportunity to demonstrate its leadership in responsible investment and regulatory innovation.
